FBA Prep Moved to China: Pre-Sail Checklist for US Store Shipments

SBT FulfillDock, whose registration reads Shenzhen Shibotong International Logistics Co., Ltd., books FBA headhaul cargo that already meets the prep standard on leaving China. The Amazon US store withdrew prep and item labelling from 1 January 2026, so the destination-side repair window has closed and the seven checks below run in China only.

  • Platform change: Amazon's Seller Central FBA Prep Service page ends prep and item labelling for US store FBA shipments, effective 1 January 2026; the notice names the US store, and the UK, EU and Japan stores were not verified this round.
  • Our clock: a China-side exception gets a named owner within 2 hours and a closed ticket within 24 hours.
  • Replenishment: the air DDP channels estimate at 4–6, 5–9 and 8–12 working days; sea DDP estimates 18–25 calendar days for west-coast United States arrivals and 28–38 days for Europe - none of these a promise of delivery.

The change, quoted, and the edge of its scope

Amazon ended a service, not a standard: its Seller Central FBA Prep Service page states, from the date above, "we'll no longer offer prep and item labeling services for … FBA shipments in the US store."

The prep expectation stands; only the option of paying the network to apply it after arrival is gone. Two limits sit inside that quote: it names the US store, so nothing here describes the UK, EU or Japan stores, and the notice lives in Seller Central behind seller sign-in, so the wording that binds you is the version in your own account.

The pre-sail verification checklist

The conclusion of the table: a carton passing all seven checks in China arrives with nothing for a fulfilment centre to repair.

Check finished in China What clean looks like Why it cannot wait
FNSKU applied at item level The scannable FNSKU sits on each unit, or on sealed retail packaging where the product allows. Facility relabelling is gone.
Polybag warning text Bags whose opening is large enough to trigger the rule carry the suffocation warning; the threshold and wording are as published in Seller Central — confirm the current version before packing. A plain rejection reason.
Single-carton weight No carton exceeds the platform's single-carton limit as published in Seller Central — confirm the current version before packing. Held at the dock.
Expiry and lot data Shelf-life units show manufacture date, expiry date and lot code as the marketplace reads them. Receiving creates no dates.
Bundle versus multipack A bundle is different units sold as one listing under one label; a multipack is identical units under one label. Misfiling fails prep.
Label placement and stacking The label lies flat on the widest face, clear of seams, and single-stack or double-stack limits hold on the pallet. Refused at check-in.
Photo record before closing Each carton is photographed closed and labelled before it joins the outbound stack. No image, no evidence.

What changes commercially when the fix window closes

The problem moved rather than disappeared. While prep services existed, a defect that survived China had a second address: the facility fixed it and the shipment stayed on its inbound path. A carton failing now at a US fulfilment centre has no repair path inside receiving - it is held or refused, and the sales plan behind that stock slips.

We are not a destination-side repair partner. The overseas points we list, at Los Angeles and New York and in Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom, move stock toward buyers with in-country clearance partners: shipping points, not rework depots.

The China-side checks we do run

What runs here is a receiving and despatch sequence, not a marketplace audit. Cartons are counted against your packing list rather than your supplier's invoice, so a short line surfaces while the factory can still be asked. Condition is judged in the same pass: crushed corners, wet seams and failed tape are photographed. Labelling is checked against the shipment plan you supply, and each carton keeps a photo record before closing. A failed check starts our clock: a named owner within 2 hours, a closed ticket within 24. Headhaul booking sits on our DDP sea and air freight page.

Documents and marks that have to match

A shipment is stopped for mismatch more often than for bad packing: the item identifiers, the carton marks and the references on the shipment plan and commercial paperwork must state the same product, count, weights and dimensions.

Regulated goods sharpen the boundary: where a shipment carries cells or battery equipment we lodge the customs paperwork in the shipper's name as their authorised agent, a filing role. Four signatures stay with their owners: the UN38.3 test summary with the cell or battery manufacturer, the safety data sheet with the substance supplier, the material identification report with the authorised testing body, and the ISPM-15 mark with a licensed treatment operator. None of the four is issued or stamped by us, and a regulated lane books only once they exist; ask via our contact page.

Where this checklist stops

This is buyer diligence, not a rulebook we authored. We cannot amend the marketplace's requirements, so we build to the version you confirm in your own Seller Central account - which is why the single-carton weight ceiling and the polybag threshold appear here only as published there. Nor is a pass on this list a promise of acceptance.

The transit bands above are estimates for the channel we book, not a delivery guarantee: schedules, seasonal capacity and customs handling move them. Orders before the 16:00 China cut-off dispatch the same day - a despatch claim, not an arrival one. Entitlements are on our liability and compensation terms.

Frequently asked questions

Does Amazon still prep FBA shipments in the US store after 1 January 2026?

No Amazon prep service is offered for US store FBA shipments from 1 January 2026, per the Seller Central notice quoted above, and item labelling ends with it. The UK, EU and Japan stores were not re-read for this article, so their terms belong in your seller account rather than in anything we say. What does not change is where the work lands once a platform stops prepping it: with the shipper, before freight, on the China floor.

What should I check in China before an FBA headhaul shipment sails?

Before an FBA headhaul shipment sails, seven checks belong in China: the FNSKU on every unit, warning text on bags whose opening triggers it, carton weight against the published limit, expiry and lot data, a bundle treated as a bundle, label placement and stacking, then a photo record. Both thresholds are as published in Seller Central.

Can a fulfilment centre fix prep problems after a shipment arrives?

A fulfilment centre in the US store no longer offers the prep and labelling repair that used to absorb this work, so a failed carton becomes a destination-side problem rather than a bookable service. Our overseas points ship stock, accept no returns and run no quality inspection abroad, so correction belongs in China before the headhaul books: a rejected carton comes back to a Chinese floor or is written off against declared value under our liability terms.

Reviewed 2026-10-28 (28 October 2026). Relied on: the Amazon Seller Central FBA Prep notice, reference G201023020, effective 1 January 2026, and the FBA packaging guidelines on the single-carton weight ceiling and polybag opening threshold. Those are platform terms we do not own, so confirm the wording in your account; no figure from them is restated here. Our exception clocks, the 16:00 cut-off and the estimated transit bands were checked against this site's pages that day; each window above is an estimate for planning, not a promise of delivery.
